TRAVEL AND TRANSPORTATION
The New Orleans Marriott Hotel does not provide shuttle service to/from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport-MSY (http://www.flymsy.com). Alternative transportation to/from the airport and around Downtown & Uptown New Orleans are described below.
Shuttles
The Airport Shuttle New Orleans offers transportation to/from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport-MSY, Downtown & Uptown New Orleans Hotels, the French Quarter, the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center & the Cruise Terminals. Shuttle fares to the airport are approximately $20 per person (one way) or $38 per person (roundtrip). Passengers may carry up to three bags without having a fee imposed. Ticket booths are located on the lower level in the baggage claim area. A reservation is required. Taxis
Taxi fare to the New Orleans Marriott Hotel from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport-MSY is approximately $33 (one way). Taxis are readily available outside the baggage claim area. There may be an additional charge for extra baggage and a $1 fuel surcharge added to the total fare.
Public Transportation
The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) bus/historical streetcar service provides local transportation to, from, and around Downtown & Uptown New Orleans. The New Orleans Marriott is on Routes 47-48-the Canal streetcar http://www.norta.com/routes/timetables/pdfs/47-48_Canal%20streetcar_web.pdf. Bus/streetcar fare is usually $1.25 per person (one way). Train Station
The New Orleans Union Station (Amtrak) is located at 1001 Loyola Ave. The Station’s hours of operation are M-F 5am until 11pm. Taxi fare from the Station to the New Orleans Marriott Hotel is approximately $15 (one way).
Driving Directions
From the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport-MSY:
From the airport, follow signs to I-10 East. Take exit 234B, turn left onto the ramp. Road name changes to Poydras Street. Turn Left onto Convention Center Blvd. Bear left onto Canal Street.
Hotel Parking
Valet parking is available at the New Orleans Marriott at a discounted rate of $16.80/day (plus tax). Ask for the “Environmental Justice Conference Rate” when you park.
Off-site parking
The many commercial lots in the French Quarter can usually accommodate enough visitors on a given day. Early Bird specials are available to motorists in by 9:00 a.m., ranging from $3.50 to $7.00 all day. After 9:00 a.m., prices rise considerably: hourly rates can run as much as $10.00 in some areas.
