Getting To and From the Conference In A Green Way

There are less polluting options in traveling to/from the Conference hotel.  Below are a few ideas, including detailed explanations if you are arriving at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport or Dallas-Love Field. You may also consult The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART).

If you are arriving at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, you can take shuttles and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART)-Trinity Railway Express (TRE) trains directly to the Sheraton-Dallas (however, no TRE service on Sundays).  Here's how:
  • Upon arrival at your terminal, go to Shuttles pick up area at the lower level of the terminal. You will board the free "Remote South" shuttle (runs approximately every 10 minutes).
  • Upon arrival at the Remote South parking area, you will then board the free TRE connector bus (again, runs every 10 minutes or so). That bus will drop you at the CentrePort station on the TRE line.
  • At the CentrePort Station, you will buy your ticket to downtown Dallas from a ticket-dispensing machine (1-way is $2.50); this ticket will also entitle you to ride the DART light rail.
    • TRE commuter trains run from CentrePort to Downtown Dallas approximately every 1 hour during the day from 5:28 a.m. to 11:05 p.m. and approximately every 30 minutes during rush hours;
    • See schedules at: www.trinityrailwayexpress.org or on www.dart.org and click on TRE.
  • Board the Eastbound train for Dallas .
  • You will exit the train at its terminus, Union Station in Downtown Dallas.
  • On the immediately adjacent track you will board the DART light rail (either the Blue or Red line) going Northbound (Red to Parker Road , Blue to Downtown Garland);
    • These trains run very 10-15 minutes.
  • You will exit the DART train at Pearl Station.
  • The Sheraton Hotel is directly across Pearl Street from Pearl Station (as you exit the train, to your left).

If you are arriving at Dallas-Love Field, you can take two buses:

•  Ride Bus Route 39 from Dallas Love Field to downtown Dallas' East Transfer Center.
•  The bus runs seven days a week from approximately 4:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
•  It is approximately a 30 minute ride to the East Transfer Center in downtown Dallas.
•  When you arrive at the East Transfer Center, the Sheraton Hotel will be directly north, across Live Oak Street.
•  Note: You must have exact change (1-way is $1.50).

Or

•  Ride Bus Route 539 from Dallas Love Field to Mockingbird Station.
•  The bus operates seven days a week (1-way is $1.50)
•  Take the Southbound DART Rail Blue or Red Line (Red to Westmoreland, Blue to Ledbetter) from Mockingbird Station to Pearl Station in downtown Dallas (local single-ride rail passes are available at the Ticket machine for an additional $1.50).
•  The Sheraton Hotel is directly across Pearl Street from Pearl Station (as you exit the train, to your left).

Need a taxi? Hail a green taxi!  The North Texas Green & Go Clean Taxi Partnership, a Dallas Sustainable Skyline Initiative (DSSI) project, provides incentives for taxi companies to own and operate green taxis within the Dallas-Fort Worth region.  Call 1-877-HAIL-GREEN or visit www.NorthTexasGreenAndGo.org to arrange for a green taxi.

The Supershuttle is also available for $17.00/person one way.  Upon arrival at your terminal, locate the Information Board/Phone at baggage claim. Press the appropriate number for SuperShuttle. A Guest Service Representative will direct you to the pick-up curb, and advise you when the next van will arrive. To arrange a Supershuttle pick up please call 214-303-4060 with your flight information (an alternate number 972-615-9975 is available after hours and on weekends).

Remember:  These vehicles emit a tiny fraction of GHGs emitted by conventional taxis!
