Session B. Sustainable Architecture and Design for Cities
Lead: Betsy Del Monte, Director of Sustainability, The Beck Group
Learn about principles of sustainable urban design, the role of municipal building codes and challenges that communities face in planning sustainability and specific examples of, and lessons learned from, a variety of completed projects. |
Session C. Building Partnerships and Sustainable Equity: Engaging Partners to be Part of "Sustainable Solutions"

Session D. "Where Do I Start?" Practical and Profitable Green Solutions
A basic training course on community sustainability and available resources.
Lead: Eric A. Woodroof
During the past 15 years, Eric A. Woodroof, Ph.D., C.E.M., has helped
over 300 organizations and governments improve profits with
energy-environmental solutions. He has written over 25 professional
journal publications and his work has appeared in hundreds of articles.
Dr. Woodroof is the Chairman of the Board for the Certified Carbon
Reduction Manager program and he has been a Board Member of the
Certified Energy Manager Program since 1999. Dr. Woodroof has advised
clients such as the U.S. Public Health Service, IBM, Pepsi, Ford, GM,
Verizon, Hertz, Visteon, JPMorgan-Chase, Universities, Airports,
Utilities, Cities and Foreign Governments. Eric is the founder of
ProfitableGreenSolutions.com.

Session F. EPA Sustainability Tools for Local, Tribal, and State Governments
Lead: Andrea Denny and Neelam Patel, U.S. EPA-Office of Atmospheric Programs, Washington; Yvonne Johnson, U.S.EPA-Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards
A review of guidance and up-to-date reference sources and demonstrations of computer-based tools, focusing on how communities can reduce energy demand and rely on renewable energy sources to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. |
Session G. Logic Modeling and Performance Measurement:
Telling Your Performance Story
Lead: Yvonne Watson, U.S. EPA-Office of Policy, Economics, and Innovation (OPEI)
Through a combination of instruction and hands on exercises participants will learn how to develop a logic model (a graphic picture using diagram and text) of your program. Participants will learn the difference between outputs and outcomes, and how to use the logic model to develop results oriented work plans and performance measures for their programs/projects in response to grant requirements including EPA's Environmental Results Order 5700.7
